A poem written to me from a friend when I moved to America. The poem is in Japanese and a rough English translation is:

"Sky"

When you feel like crying look to the sky
Because the sky is always near me

When you are lonely look to the sky
Because the sky is with me

When you feel happy look to the sky
Because the sky is eternally unending

When you feel like screaming look to the sky
Because the sky always tells me those feelings

Good bye

I painted this piece on my studio wall. After scanning her letter into Photoshop, I printed it out onto transparency paper and projected it onto the wall. After tracing her letter on the wall, I painted two coats of paint on the letters. It was a lot of work and I will probably not try that again as it was really tedious.

Art should have meaning to someone and should always mean something to you as the artist. Yumi and I were really good friends and I miss her. I did this piece of art for me.
