Tools Required: (further links provided in the descriptions on these link)
-- Corner Clamps @ dA [link]
-- Self-Squaring Frame Clamps @ Woodcraft [link]
-- Table Saw @ Woodcraft [link]
-- Miter Saw @ Woodcraft [link]

NOTE: The list of tools are general ideas. When I create the PDF, I will mention the brands/models of tools that I used for comparison purposes.

O.O Looks very simple and easy to do. Need the tools though. o_o I never seen a frame joiner but it sure looks expensive. Like a specialized field's equipment. Useful though, this tutorial. Didn't think to use the 45 degrees thingers. Ehh.. I hope whatever wood would do for material. ^^; Hope to see your other tutorial someday!

Nice tutorial =)

Thanks for stopping by.

Regarding tools, yes this can get expensive, but pays for itself with first successful frame build in my opinion. Here is a Corner Band Clamp similar to the one I used in the above example - [link]

The choice of wood is up to you as I've used Pine and other soft woods. I would like to use Red Wood or Cherry Wood, but it's too expensive since it has to be purchased by the linear foot.

Here is a 48x48x4" (120x120x10cm) canvas frame that I just built for less than $20usd - [link] For this frame size I had to use a larger Corner Band Clamp like this one - [link]

Here is another picture of the clamping process for that large canvas frame - [link]

Here is the other tutorial on How To Stretch a Canvas [link] that I recently posted.

If you're interested, I'll post links to the tools I used to make the frames.

Thanks again for stopping by,
Shad

I took a painting class this year, and while we learned how to paint, we were never instructed on making our own canvas. We basically used premade canvases, but I'm eager to learn more... so you can imagine how ecstatic I was when I came across your tutorial. I'm going to put this to use when I have more time (currently quite busy, sadly), and I'll be sure to tell friends about your tutorial when I do. :3 Thanks so much for the detailed tutorial!
